Sylvia Schur passed away today. She isn’t someone I knew personally, in fact, I’d never heard of her until I read her obituary in the paper this morning. But as a Canadian, I should have known her name.
She invented Clamato juice. Yes, a juice that combines clam and tomato juices. And when you combine clamato with vodka, and a few other things you get Canada’s answer to the Bloody Mary. yum.
As a salute to Sylvia, here is a recipe from www.drinknation.com …
- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
- 6 oz. Mott’s (Mott’s)
- 1 stick Celery
- 1 dash Celery Salt
- 1 wedge Lime
- 1 dash Pepper, black
- 2 splashes Tabasco Sauce
- 2 splashes Worcestershire Sauce
Rim glass using lime & celery salt. Fill glass 1/3 with ice, add vodka, clamato and a splash each of worcestershire sauce and tabasco. Add a dash of celery salt and pepper, garnish with lime & celery.
