I had to have at least one book made out of paper for my trip so that I could have a book to read while at the beach. I know, how old-school of me. I read about The Elegance of the Hedgehog at the Sony Reader bookstore. It intrigued me. From the Barnes and Noble review:
One of her two Parisian diarist heroines is a concierge, the other a suicidal adolescent. They sound conventional, but that’s precisely the point: they both work very hard to achieve stereotypicality.
The meaning of life, philosophy, pastries, teen angst, a touch of Japanese culture, all set in an elegant and expensive French apartment building.
I couldn’t put it down. My copy is now filled with folded down corners and underlined passages. This is a book I know I will read again and refer back to many times.
