Miss R loved the birds in Hawaii. 

We bought a bird book and I traipsed behind her taking photographs of pigeons, sparrows, ducks, sparrows – exotic birds of all sorts.  I’m not complaining because I’m a bird lover too.   

I love her quiet love of nature and animals.  Her vegetarianism stems from this.  Just the other day she was reading her PETA-kids magazine and asked me if I would eat fish if they were called “sea kittens”. 

The hotel had flamingos and penguins.  Honestly.  We learned a little bit about the mating habits of the latter.  Miss R and I had a running joke about going to see if the baby penguins were ready yet.
