We stayed at the Grand Waikikian Tower in Waikiki. Luckily the hotel was at the far end of Waikiki so it wasn’t as busy as other parts of the beach. It was spectacular. The views were lovely, if urban. An unexpected surprise was a lobby filled with beautiful woodblock prints done by Sue Pearson and Herman Pi’ikea Clark. These are close ups of two very large pieces printed on silk.
This next print is also done on silk and is about 4 feet long. The colors are so subtle and perfect. The texture of the silk shows through the work and adds a lovely dimension.
These are two smaller pieces done by each artist and were tucked into niches along the hallway of the lobby. Small treasures in a busy building. These photographs really don’t do the prints justice, I’m so sorry.
