My critique is over and honestly, it took me a couple of days to recoup. I worked really hard mentally and physically to get my pieces ready which is silly I know but I was exhausted at the end.
I am so pleased with how it all went and am so motivated to keep going with my new direction. All of the women in my class were fantastic, with their insightful comments and suggestions for going forward.
The way I’m working really is stretching the boundaries of printmaking into the realm of craft but as my pieces are of no useful purpose they remain firmly planted in art (a discussion I had here about a year ago). I’m simply employing new methods for building printing plates and adding color.
I’m going to keep working on my collographs, following on the suggestions of my classmates. Inking, wiping, inking, printing. A long, messy process but the results will be worth it.
My friend Joan is a master at the collograph and she is currently working on a plate that takes about four hours to ink. She can run it through the press at most 3 times, but usually just get two runs out of it. It’s a crazy process.
But not today. Today it’s sunny, I think I’ll spend time in my yard, gardening and reading. aaaahhhh.

Good to stretch things; yourself, the boundaries of your craft, your eating habits…….And of course you have at least two friends; and lots more, I\’m sure! 🙂
