printing and stitching

005 I go back and forth.  Printing or stitching and printing and stitching.  Often the two overlap in more ways than one.

This piece is a combination of a stitched fabric printed onto fabric and stitched.  Perhaps it doesn’t make sense, but the end result is quite nice, if I do say so myself.

I chose kantha stitching for this piece.  I was in need of something meditative and simple. This is similar to Japanese sashiko in that it uses a simple running stitch.  Both types of embroidery originated with the need to mend or re-use cloth.

I chose colors I’d used when printing this plate on paper for the Print Zero print exchange.  It’s interesting to see this plate done so many ways.
