Herringbone stitch is my new favorite fill stitch

003Yes, a statement only a stitching nerd could love (Rabecca?!).  I’ve been stitching away on a tote bag for my son’s teacher as an end of year gift.  It is this tote from Sublime Stitching that I mentioned in my last post.  It is fun just stitching to someone else’s pattern.  All I have to decide are color and stitch.

002Herringbone stitch is supposed to be done with an exactness that, well, I try to avoid.  Instead, I placed the stitches to follow the area I was filling, in this case, the bee’s body.  It fills and provides a lovely texture. I love how it looks here with the sparkly metallic thread.
