someone busier than you

My friend Cathy (go to her blog right now to see some amazing printmaking.  It’s okay. I’ll wait.)

My friend Cathy had a great quote on Facebook this morning, “My sis shared a quote with me yesterday and I thought it could easily be applied to making art. Here it is in it’s original form to inspire lacing up the shoes and heading out the door: Someone busier than you is running right now.”

This is so true.  I immediately thought of my progress in the 30 Day Art Challenge.  I’ve done 8 engravings so far.  Not bad, I’m just one day behind.  I like the pieces so far, but I’m not sure if I love them.  That being said, I love doing them, the engraving, the inking, the printing.  I do love printmaking.

If you want to see someone’s work I do love, and he is totally on top of the challenge, check out the work of Danny Mansmith.  Danny left a comment on my blog a couple of days ago and I’m so glad he did. I’m blown away by his textile work and can’t wait to see it all in person.  His blog is here.

Here is my Day 1 print… “luna moth”

I think it’s great that you’re doing this 30 day art initiative. I always have high hopes for such things that I try on my own, but give up after a few days. I wondering if you’re having success because you’re working as a collective? Is that more motivating? Have you tried printing your plates as relief? (Thanks for the shout out, btw!)
