After spending two weeks in the non-stop glorious sunshine of Maui and fully replenishing my vitamin D stores, it is especially hard to return to the gray Seattle winter.  I love this rain gauge from the Lake Quinalt Lodge on the Olympic peninsula. 

Note that the rain is measured in feet, not inches.  And yes, that is what it feels like this time of year.
