Friday Favorite: Glamspoon

043I absolutely have to mention an amazing woman here in my Friday Favorites, Tina Witherspoon of Glamspoon.  Tina is a fashion designer.  I first met her a year ago when we were paired to work together in creating an outfit out of a painter’s drop cloth. I was hesitant to even participate, having watched too many episodes of “Project Runway” and having a pretty firm image of what I though fashion designers were like. Then I met Tina. Down to earth, kind, smart, eco-smart, generous and always the most fabulous looking person in the room.  Tina oozes glamor but her personality is that of your best friend.

I’m so happy to see Tina’s career really taking off right now.  Tina is fresh off the Seattle version of Project Runway, “The Look” where she was one of three finalists. Her ready-to-wear dress “The Market Dress” is available at The Frock Shop in Seattle.  Each year recycles several donated dresses into a formal gown to raise money for The Ruby Room, among other charitable events.

Tina has just opened her new studio at Inscape Arts, a building in the International District in Seattle.  I’m excited to head down on Sunday to see her studio (and the rest of the building) at the spring open house from noon to six.  If you’d like to know more about Tina or about the fashion scene in Seattle be sure to sign up for her newsletter at her website.

When I find fabulous artists I never wish that I could draw/stitch/create like them.  I’m always just glad to have found them and know that their art is there for me to come back to time and again.  I’ve decided to start featuring some of my favorites every Friday so that you can enjoy them too.
