My daughter goes through a sketchbook in just over a month. Unless she’s writing, then it’s the journals that get eaten up. She spends at least two hours a day doing one or the other. I admire her tenacity and her determination to become better at both.
I’m slower with my sketchbooks, which become kind of a scrapbook, I glue things in, I keep notes, I sketch (!) but not with the determination to better my skills like my daughter. It is something I’d like to do more of.
Last night though I ordered six sketchbooks. I order in bulk because shipping is still just $1 and it’s buy five get one free. Hard to resist really. And they are adorable. For the past couple of years, I’ve bought them from Ex Libris Anonymous in Portland and I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned them here before – but they are worth mentioning again. Each journal is made from the covers and pages of old books. They are rebound with standard white paper but interesting pages from the book are also included. If you are looking for a sketchbook that you can also paint in, these probably aren’t for you. But if you just want a fun book to drag everywhere with you – these are perfect.
Here’s mine…
